About NoSo November:

Their mission is to educate youth about social media’s impacts on mental health, tech addiction, and to provide long-term solutions to the problems these apps have created by providing an educational challenge video to be shown in schools or at home.

About Maddie:

Madeline Freeman is from Denver, Colorado. She is a Business Management major with a focus on entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Maddie is the founder of her social venture, NoSo November. She is a changemaker in the digital space, spreading awareness surrounding social media's design techniques and how this business model negatively impacts mental health. She is an advocate for suicide awareness and values innovation, digital wellbeing, and social change.

In the wake of Facebook internally proving that their platforms are detrimental to youth mental health, let's take matters into our own hands.

NoSo November, a social venture, was created by fellow student entrepreneurs to spread awareness surrounding social media's manipulation techniques and how this business model negatively impacts mental health. Maddie Freeman’s NoSo challenge video linked below features herself, and Jeff Orlowski, the Director of the Netflix documentary, The Social Dilemma. They discuss the real world harms of these platforms, and ways we can individually take our power back. If you feel addicted to social media, you are not alone. After watching the video, we challenge viewers to pledge to logging off/decreasing screen time for the month of November.
