What is What School Didn't Teach Me?
"What School Didn’t Teach Me" fosters a supportive community by embracing the uncertainties of adulthood and challenging the unrealistic standards often portrayed on social media. Through honest and candid conversations, our internationally accessible podcast—available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts—empowers listeners to navigate life with authenticity and confidence.
Problem
Social media significantly impacts mental health by promoting unrealistic portrayals of reality and personal growth. These portrayals create unsustainable ideals and set unhealthy standards of popularity. When young people are unable to meet these expectations due to financial or environmental circumstances, they may experience deep insecurities and feelings of worthlessness. This cycle contributes to a concerning rise in depression, mental illness, and suicidal ideation among youth.
Solution
The best way to cultivate a healthy digital space is to embody one. Aligned with its mission of fostering community and wellness, "What School Didn’t Teach Me" will host a live podcast event, "Welcome to the Classroom." This engaging discussion will explore the importance of digital responsibility, effective social media management, and leveraging social media as a tool for empowerment rather than comparison. After the event, the podcast will continue to create a positive and supportive digital space by embracing the complexities of adulthood through honest conversations.
