Our Mission
We discover, empower, and support youth leaders. These leaders are taking action to raise awareness, inspire, and design a healthier, more inclusive, and responsible digital world. Our focus is youth centered agency and makes up our core values and practices. We don’t tell these leaders of the future what to do. We ask them.
LookUp is a 501(c)(3) social venture dedicated to helping young people thrive in the digital world.
Our Story
Susan Reynolds, co-founder of LookUp and formal educator, observed a shift in 1997 within her classroom. Even then, technology was becoming a growing problem, keeping her students distracted and disconnected. As years progressed, she had an epiphany: Nearly 100% of all solutions have been designed by adults. No one was asking the kids to come up with the solution.
LookUp was soon founded after this. We’re the first organization (Est. 2019) that believes that youth have the answers. We ask them to create the change they want to see in the world while supporting their ideas financially and connecting them with a peer community.
From 2019 to now, we’ve evolved. Other organizations have realized that we must give agency to our younger generations, which is fantastic! What sets us apart is that we’re the first to believe in youth by supporting them with a micro-grant and community to help get their idea off and running.
