A centralized mobile platform that ethically incentivizes event exploration and outreach while providing all groups an equal opportunity to engage with their broader communities.
Problem.
On college campuses, there is a flawed method of outreach and communication - inconsistent and decentralized. Event discovery and diverse group exploration is challenging given modern tools, making students feel isolated and disconnected from each other. Since they feel like an outsider, students become insecure and lack a sense of trust and belonging. We strongly believe no student should feel this way. How might we empower every student to effectively explore and manage events to facilitate healthy social bonds in diverse communities?

Our app will combine group exploration, scheduling, and communication into one streamlined platform, while also providing incentives that will nudge a user to become more involved in their community. The screens for the app will be feed, explore, calendar, manage, and profile.

The feed screen will contain updates from followed groups while the explore page will contain events and groups that the user can look to become involved in. On the calendar screen, a user will be able to see the events of the groups that they are a member of while also having the ability to add their own personal events. Finally, the manage page will show the groups that the user is a member/admin of while the profile page will display the user’s recent activity and badges for the group.

These badges are in the process of being user-tested along with small data visualizations in order to see what incentives elicit the most positive feelings out of the users when they get engaged in their community.
